Coffee on your hunts?

How many of you take items to make coffee on your hunts.  IE: coffee pot, ground coffee?  And if anyone uses a coffee press, I would love to know how you use it and what items you carry to do so?

I mostly use the blue enamel perk type using coffee grounds.  Just let it sit next to the fire and do its thing . My wife did buy a French press but we haven't used it yet , you still have to heat up the water and I would rather it just be there in the perk when I feel like a cup and if i use river or stream water by the time i get to it anything that was living in it isnt anymore but that just my 2 cents

A french press works great! Put in the grounds....pour hot water, let stand bout 10 min, then push the plunger down,and enjoy.......MMMMM COFFEE!

Not really gourmet....but Folgers coffee bags are not to bad. Just like a tea bag but with coffee!!

Look at the single cup coffee filter holders by Melitta.  Many stores have them now and they are only about $4.00.  Uses normal ground coffee.   http://www.amazon.com/Melitta-Ready-Single-Coffee-Brewer/dp/B0014CVEH6

I have just about every coffee making process including two french presses.  The problem with a french press while out hunting is all the water you need to clean it when you done.  Also, the coffee gets cold quickly, and most of the presses are glass.  I have one of the plastic variety but the spout filter clogs all the time.  PITA

My hunting buddy and I each carry coffee, enamel perk pot and propane or similar stove in our trucks.  Break time very often means coffe time on the tail gate.

If I am tent camping from a base camp (wall tent), I have a coffee press.
   If I am backpacking I take the "Starbucks Via" instant coffee it is the best non brewed coffee I have tried. Light weight and all you need is a cup and hot water.

Get the Starbucks ones you just poor into hot waterand stir ... Works great for short camp trips.

One cup at a time............triangular paper filter and holder. I buy whole beans on line and roast them at my office or at home one pound at a time. The coffee that comes along for hunts is always pretty fresh ground.

X2, and I use a Jet Boil to heat the water; about 90 seconds and you have steaming hot water.

A good old coffee pot and when camping I make a pot before I crawl in the bag,fill up the thermos and in the am I got hot coffee as soon as I crawl out of the bag.

Try a Frieling stainless steel insulated French press. You can also use it as an insulated pitcher in the bigger sizes or cup in the smaller sizes.

If I don't use an instant coffee I use the Melitta filter holders that Pete McM mentioned, they are lightweight plastic, weigh almost nothing, and no clean up other than throwing the used filter with grounds into the fire. You can get larger filter holders too for making more coffee at one pour.

For backpack hunting:
The Starbucks Vias are the best instant coffee going. The Folgers bags are a close second.  

For camper/base camping:
A good old percolator is hard to beat.

Instant for me.  I use Nescafe Clasico.  I always have hot water in my Stanley thermos.  Pour some water, throw in some instant coffee and your good to go.  I drink the stuff everyday, not just while hunting/camping

I must confess to being somewhat of a coffee addict and in the last few hunting trips got turned on to the French Press. Awesome couple of cups of coffee within 2 minutes of boiling water.

I hunt public land near my home mostly and just bring a thermos full of my favorite dark roast on morning sits. Up until last year I had NEVER brought coffee with me on a hunt. I tried it once and it was glorious.

There is something about watching the sun come up with your bow in your lap and a cup of coffee in the other.

Me too. I just hate it when I get confused and wind up with the bow in my hand and the coffee in my lap.
