I finished up this bow and delivered it to my friend Michael today.
Michael is the head man at the Demmer Center, check out the link to this fantastic Shooting Facility.
http://demmercenter.msu.edu/ He contacted me last fall about a longbow and he said he would really like a dual shelf if possible. I played around with ideas and combinations a decided this would do nicely. The bow is made from all Michigan hardwoods chosen by Michael. Fire tempered Osage for the back and figured walnut for the belly and some edge grained walnut for the center core lamination.
The riser is some very nice Black walnut With an Osage I-Beam and I reinforced the riser with 3/8" of fiber glass. I used a new Riser configuration on this build and it worked very well.
Michael is a new shooter and wanted something to learn with, the bow specs out at 35#@26" and is 66" long.
I enjoyed a few hours at the Demmer Center shooting with Michael and getting him set up and comfortable with the bow. Enjoy the pics.
