My first prototype limb bolt plate NEW PHOTO
« on: April 21, 2013, 10:24:00 PM »
I've just finished these up tonight. I hand cut out of 1/4" brass plate to go with my Wes Wallace Mentor. I will be engraving them as soon as I can embrace the design. It's too hard to make decisions for my own stuff. Since this is my hunting rig I want it to be special. Adds substancial weight. Feels very solid like it wood soak up noise and vibration, I will let you know. Let me know your thoughts about these, thanks.

They look great on there. A bit over the top for my taste, but they do look nice there. And I bet your engraving skills will spruce them right up.
Take care,
Jeff

These pic's show my bow quiver attached. Very quick on & off, solid, quiet.

I just shot this bow moments ago. Added weight like an anchor, very stable. I shot a 3 arrow group so tight I broke or weakend a nock and didn't notice it. The next set of 3 caused a dry fire!! I was freaking out! Whew! No damage, what a loud crack. That happened once before long ago, scared me then too. Check your nocks often.

I know my bow has a lot of wear marks and the brackets crude but this is my hunting rig. I plan to clean it all up after I get done customizing.

Being a former service member I would hate to have to brasso those to keep em clean...

watched a guy accidentally dry fire his bow at the TBOT Hill Country Shoot recently and it broke the top loop plus the top bow tip came apart, and a little blood, not a pretty picture.

"You need to find some brass bolts now"  I think Kirk meant diamond studded bolts.   :-)

Seriously though, amazing work and wonderful job.

Do you know how much weight it added?

Wow! Looks pretty exquisite! Now you're tempting us to make some too.
Just a wondering, wouldn't  the plate come loose? Or did you secure it somehow to the limb?

I used a spray glue and a very thin gasket. Works well, not gonna slip. Hasn't on my bow and I was aprehensive too. I'm gonna file off this design and try another. This will give me an oppurtunity to move more weight to the bottom plate. I can tell you, so far I'm impressed with the feel with this extra weight. I'm loving it! I can see alot of experimenting coming.
