Whats your favorite archery game in the off season ?
« on: April 25, 2013, 08:50:00 PM »
I like to chase a whiffle ball around with fluflus . Just throw it out and then keep knocking it where ever it goes . Catch the top of the ball just rite and the arrow will launch quite high , that's kinda neat . Had the ball land close to a tree stump today and I drove the steel blunt into the arrow shaft about a half inch . Still shoots OK so the game goes on . This is more fun with two shooters cause you don't wait for each other and you can hit the ball before the other shooter . That can get fun and a little exciting .  :jumper:

I go stump'n, get a couple of guys to go and it's even better. But even alone I find it a lot of fun and great practice. A log becomes a bedded Elk, a small stump is a grouse, big stump is a hog and so on. Shooting under stuff and from your knees, great practical training!!

I like takin a walk down through the woods and placing balloons as I go! They are easily held in place by poking a whole thru the tie area and sticking a stick thru it. I than walk back to the truck and grab my bow and walk down thru the woods and shoot as I go. No mess left in woods as I can pick them up and fit 50 broken balloons in my pocket. I can make my target as small as a chipmunk or as big as the vitals on an Elk by just adding a bunch of air. I really like this better than stumping as it saves a lot of my arrows from damage. Cheap targets too, I can buy a bag of 40 ballons for a buck at the dollar store! Try it, it can be addicting!! Shawn

We mix it up, stumps or soceer balls filled with that expanding foam(works great) We even did that to a small stuffed toy to practice for squirrels. I kind of mix it up to keep the kids going. Shoots on holidays with prizes that kind of stuff.

Fun thread!! I do all of the above. I really love the whiffle ball game, the kids enjoy it too. I also let baloons loose and shoot them on the move while the winds blows them around

The woods has all the targets a stumper will ever need, but I don't mind taking a hand full of clay pigeon withs me either. It's cool to hit them and watch them break, not worried about the clean up and they're cheap

I like those ideas, flyfisher.  I think I have a couple old flat basketballs in the shed that would be great filled with foam.  Thanks!

I like to get a couple judo tipped arrows and knock around a tennis ball. Every time you hit it you get a new shot angle.

You mean besides food plots, filling feeders, predator control?  Haha my favorite is day dreaming & planning for nxt season. Reading websites like this and googling at the new catalogs for equipment/clothes for next year
