“Aloft in my Tree”
Aloft in my tree
I hear something near
The crackling of brush
The sound is so clear
Scan my lanes
In search of my prey
In hopes that a deer
Will be passing my way
Reach for my bow
Get an arrow on the rest
Nerves start to jitter
I'll be put to the test
Then a brown apparition
Appears in my sight
I make out the buck
In the early morning light
Pull the string to my cheek
With nary a sound
This little buck
Is about to go down
Let fly the shaft
It looks to be true
Yet over his back
My arrow flew
See the little twig
I feel so numb
Deflected my arrow
And in the humdrum
The little buck deer
Blazed out of sight
Just a brown apparition
In the early morning light....TW
