I have started using one almost all the time now. Most my hunting is in the swamp and/or pines. Hard to follow a blood trail in the water or over pine needles. I have not noticed an effect on arrow flight with a reasonable shot. There's a thread on here of some interesting ways to mount them. Do a search and you will find it.

I do but only for turkeys. The rest up here a blood trail isn't a problem.

My tracker came with the mounting bracket so this is
How I mount it with a slip on quiver

Hockey tape over it

Color of bow before blackened with hockey tape.

I get better arrow flight mounting the tracker on the quiver. I learned the hard way on a couple of hogs mounting it low with an adaptor.
Guru has a tutorial on here somewhere about how to mount it on the quiver(it made all the difference for me).

Yes you want it above the arrow. If you just screw it into where the stabilizer would go on some bows it ends up below and is not as good.
On mine it is above the arrow attached to the quiver.

I use it a lot!  I have also recently found out that it works through the netting in the blind windows too. The last two animals I have shot (1 turkey and 1 huge pig) have been with the string tracker through netting in the blind window.

I made a bracket that attaches under my lower limb bolt. This puts the unit below my arrow, but I have not seen any adverse effects from having it there.

They work great!

I use one on and off.  Before you get too worried about some  creative mount, electrical tape around the riser works great.  Takes seconds to install and uninstall if you don't use.

Electrical tape doesn't leave any residue either...

I offer this suggestion if you just want to try it out asap.

Merle, Just a few observations from your pix bud...

In the first picture, you quiver is way too far up the limb. It ideally should be down on the taper of the riser. As high as you have it, it is affecting the limb...may be slight, but if it were me, I'd have down a lot further.

Other thing is your bracket, to me it seems like with it on such a long rod it's got to be moving an awful lot on the shot, especially since it's just wedged in between the foam and hood.

Like I said just a couple thoughts after seeing your pix....I'm sure it's working for you, but it's always best to minimize any potential problems.....good luck!!

As far as the tracker above or below.....I really dont think it makes any difference.

I think the biggest thing it to have the tracker as close to your arrow, either above or below, when the arrow leaves the bow. The initial slight pull at release I believe will have the biggest effect on the arrow.

this is how i got mine attatched.
its wrapped on with paper ribbon from floral dept. and a single innertube slice.
nice and compact and out of the way and close to the arrow.

i lost the plug a long time ago so i use a rubber blunt.  :biglaugh:

Thanks Curt for the observations. I made some adjustments.

I'm going to go practice with my blind and foam fill decoy if I have time I'll post picks for observations. Thanks again

Hey Jim,
Can you floss the hogs teeth with  them?

That set up looks real good now!
I mad at myself for not thinking of hockey tape to dull the bow. Thanks for the tip.
Irv, only if they've taken a dirt nap first(the hogs).

I think the hockey tape was something I read from Guru. No residue and dull flat.
