Quiet and Fast Strings
« on: April 27, 2013, 11:49:00 AM »
I have a few string questions for the gang. What string material makes the quietest srings? What material makes the fastest strings? And, how about the quietest and fastest.
This is assuming correct tuning, brace height, etc.
Thanks, Jim

I made my continuous loop string from 50lb test Dyneema braided fishing line. did 16 strands and it was noticeably lighter than the dacron string that came with my Samick Sage 50# bow and shoots about 12 fps faster.

Contact SBD strings, Bearbowman, or Oliverstacy. They all make strings that fit your description. All are sponsors here. 6 or 8 strand D 10 is what I like.

I feel it depends on the bow,I have bows that are quieter with a 450+,some with D97 and some with 8190.I make my own strings and can play around wih different strand counts and materials.

I don't think there is a definitive answer to your question. If there was there would be only one, or possibly two, string materials available. Instead there are dozens, and they all have their adherants and their detractors.

Yep--what Grey said.  There's no "one size fits all" answer to that question.
