«
on:
April 28, 2013, 01:20:00 PM »
I've been out of traditional archery for a couple years, I've been mostly shooting olympic recurve. I really want to start shooting trad again and need some help finding a bow.
I want a bow that is:
68-72"
One piece
Recurve or longbow
nice looking wood and clear glass
smooth I have a long draw length I'm 6'6"
Also I'm looking for something under $500

That would be an extremely long recurve. I have a bear polar that is 66" and it seems huge to me.

Check the classifieds...Northern Mist make a great long bow at a reasonable price if you're looking for new.

Blackcreek, not sure he makes one that long but around $500! You may be better off with an ILF riser and some XL longbow limbs. Shawn

Thanks all, I'll be sure to check them out. Bear Heart: I know it's a long recurve but the recurve I shoot right now is 72" so I'm trying to keep things similar.

I'm looking for something around 40 @ 28. I can go a couple pounds either way. I might have to compromise and go for something around 66".
I haven't shot a bow without vbars a sight cushion plunger, clicker and a long front rod in about 4 years. But after college nationals I'm going to sell my target stuff and get back to basics.
Lots of great options so far I'm getting really excited to get back into it. Keep them coming guys.

There are several bows I could reccomend except for the 500. limit. That kind of puts you in having to buy a used one or a factory bow and I know of no such bows right now. If you can find a Sasquatch or a Frontier 66 in used then you would be in great shape. There are certainly other builders too but I don't know their draw specs. Also don't know yours but from the length of bow its probably about 32 to 33 in.
I have a friend that just got a nice used Frontier in that price range. Give Kirk a call though cause he might have an Obsidian in stock that he could work with you on and you would be getting a really great bow.
God bless, steve
