Only small game taken. Blacktail have been ensuring me a steady diet of tag soup.

You ever hunt grey diggers/ground squirrels?  Plenty to be found in your neck of the woods, just have to knock on some farmers doors to get permission.  Once you find the right place, you will get lots of shot opps.  Use broadheads though, they are some tough SOB's!  Getting your first kill will come, it "only" took me 11 years!

I have been blessed with being able to take a few deer using traditional equipment. No major trophies but venison none the less. Now the turkey is another story. This critter has been my nemesis. I've only been able to take one shot with a clean miss. I have, however, been able to call in other hunters with great consistency...

Took one small buck with my compound and made the switch to trad about a year ago.  I have missed a doe, a jake, and shot through the brisket of ram (he survived).  Besides the minor setbacks I am really enjoying myself.

Started hunting trad last year during gun season with no luck, had a small buck about 30 yards from me but was not comfortable with the shot. This year is going to be strictly traditional only! So who knows I may get my first this year

This was my my first year hunting with traditional equipment. I sat in the stand or blind for a little over 80 hours this past season and never got to draw my bow on a deer or turkey. I learned a lot though, and I'm optimistic that this season will be more productive.

I have taken numerous animals with compounds. Converted to trad only and have drawn no blood yet. Just have not spent the time in the wood like I use to because of domestic difficulties. That will.change this September!!!

I remember my first deer with a stick bow. It was a small three point blacktail and the trad police did not exist in the day. Most people shot at what they thought they could hit. Well anyway I shot at this little buck and he looked at the arrow. It hid him just above the eye and he went down so fast I did not even see him fall. One second he was there and the next not. It was real high grass and all of a sudden I see this arrow standing straight up fletch showing above the grass. Then it started quivering.

In those days with my family and my wages., 2.50 per hour meat was a big deal. From that point on we had elk and deer in the freezer every year/. I could not afford to miss but miss I did so my version of being a good hunter was to just hunt hard until I killed an animal. I have to say it was a lot of hard work but persistence pays off.

God bless you all, Steve

I started bowhunting last fall, deer and hogs, no kills yet.  Gonna hunt hogs and squirrels year round.  I've heard animals killed in the hot summer have too many bugs, we'll see.

Regrettably, yes. I'm still looking for my first major trad kill. I've bowfished successfully (that's what got me started in trad shooting)and finally killed a grouse while elk hunting 3 years ago. As far as deer, I'm likely the main one to blame. I just don't get out there like I should. And then once duck season opens I'm pretty much done deer hunting anyway. So ..... one of these days. One of these days.  :dunno:

Can't hit deer our pigs just too big of target. I fall all apart when I get a chance on a deer or pig.  :knothead:

Been at it since 1968......I hope it comes soon before I'm to old to realize what I really accomplished.....LOL! I did have a shot in 1971....but missed!

This will be the year, feel confident. New lease and all looks great.
Have taken possum, armadillo, squirrel and Javi's. Yet to pull down on a deer.
Never wait too long!
