Bear Archery is making the 59 Kodiak once again.
The bow is absolutely amazing! Try one if you get a chance.

I have a Kohannah Kurve, a 1959 Bear Grizzly, and my new custom Northern Mist Ottowa!!!!
All are great shooting bows but that Ottowa is something else, great looks and amazingly smooth draw, fast, too.

Why not just get a actual vintage 50's recurve?

I doubt any are going to shoot much better than a 1956 or 1957 Kodiak.

These bows can be found pretty cheap if you snoop around a little and are excellent bows.

Is a 1969 Kodiak Hunter still considered a 50s style recurve?
What distinguishes a 50s style recurve? Is it the handle shape?

Hey Irv, Yes, the "50's" style bows have a slimmer grip and riser. Very basic.  The 69 K Hunter has the "sculpted" riser and grips that we see on most recurves today.  At least that's MY definition.

For a shorter 50's style recurve take a look at Black Widows PSR. The new 59 kodiaks bear archery is now putting out look like winners to me as well.

Great Northern Ghost.  Design is from original 50's Glenn St.Charles bow. Elegant, simple, strong, and they perform very well!      Horserod
