Yard sale gem
« on: May 10, 2013, 05:16:00 PM »
My brother called me from a yard sale telling me there was a bow for sale. The asking price was 25$ so I had him pick it up for me. After a clean up and some new finish she is good to go. I made a new string and installed some brass inserts where holes were drilled as well. It is an old Shakespeare pulling 45# . This bow is a pleasure to shoot. It also came with a Mohawk bowfishing reel and a fish arrow. Hard to beat

Nice looking bow, those Shakespeare bows are good shooters
Good idea putting the brass inserts in where the holes were.

Man--that looks to be in great shape! I wish I could find something like that. All I run into are mismatched golf clubs and baby toys

Anybody that knows me is aware I am a longbow guy, but I do have a recurve or eight  hanging in my shop. I pick up this bow and and  arrows just seem to find the bullseye. I wouldn't hesitate to take her in the woods tomorrow. I feel as if I am cheating on my beloved Mohawks. I am a bolygamist

Not hard to be a Bolygamist at $25 a pop!
Another $20ish bow that looks great.
Nice find is right.

That is one fine bow Glenn...good luck with it. I've never seen an old Shakespeare in near mint condition. You have a fine bowfishing rig there but get some 50-55# spine woodies and chase some whitetails this fall also.        :campfire:

Very nice two tone color.  Love old bows.  Great to see them get back in action.
