Arrow ideas for Toelke Super D #45@28?
« on: May 11, 2013, 07:42:00 PM »
I would appreciate your input on arrow ideas for my SD longbow, 45@28. I draw 29" and my shafts are usually cut to 30.25". I would prefer a good arrow choice in aluminum or graphite. What size shafts would you recommend?

I would like the finished weight to be about 600+ grains. I like the heavy brass inserts and plan to top six of them off with Tuffhead single bevel broad heads.

When I had my Super "D" I shot 45/60 Carbon Express full length, 225 gr up front. Mine was 43# @ 29 and I draw 29+". I also shot 55-60 cedar full length 125 up front. Both flew very well from that bow. Hope this helps......ron w..      Both were about 575 gr.

I'd guess CE Heritage 250s with about 200-225 up front

GT 55/75s with the same.  Not sure exact length.  GTs will be a little shorter and lighter when done.

You'll get 600+ grains.  Oh and it will be sooooooo quiet!!

2018 XX75 30.5" with a .175-.200 grain head. Or I would try a 2016 29.5-30" with a .145-175 head. You'll be a bit lighter with the 2016,but I bet it'll fly great. The 2016 with a .175 head will get you into a .530-.550 arrow total weight. A 2018 will get your weight to around 580-620 with a 175/200 head. They both will fly great I'd bet,but the 2018's trajectory will fall off faster. rat'

2018 would be my guess, maybe 2020 with that much weight up front.

I would think GT 5575's should work if you leave them full length and use 100 grain inserts. At the very least try them full length if you go with the GT's. Trimming them first might yield too stiff an arrow.

p.s. Toelke bows are superb

Asking Dan would work also

I find my Super D to be very spine tolerant but shoots better with a weaker spine and heavy up front.  Just what you are looking for

I just got a new bow 45@28,but I pull about 30" and I'm using CE Heritages 150's cut to 32.25 with 150 grains up front.
