Tire kickers
« on: May 12, 2013, 09:13:00 AM »
I've bought, sold and traded a lot of bows over the years. When I list a bow for sale I try and describe it honestly and will e-mail pics to anyone interested.

What gets me is the number of people asking for pics that have no intention of buying.I send pics and either get no reply,or get a message saying that the bow looks really nice, period.

If the bow looks good and they make no offer I can only assume they are only window shopping. In many cases, they can get better pics off of the bowyers website. What say you sellers,do you all have similar experiences?

That is why I try to show a pic or two of every bow I list.  Hopefully, it will be enough for the looky loos and only interested parties will ask for more.

The thing that kills me is the ridiculously low offers.  At least offer half of what I am asking...

Don't brick and mortar sellers get the same thing?  I think what you are saying is you don't care for the sales process.  A lot of people don't.... But it goes with the territory.

Have you hung up on a telemarketer or gone to HD or Lowes and looked at something asked a question then walked away without buying anything?

Or they could be like me that have just enough for a new bow and are looking for just the right one to drop a dime on.  If there is no pic I have asked for some and it turns out not to be what I am looking for.  Being polite will return with a positive reply.

I understand if somebody doesn't know what a particular bow looks like and after seeing pics decides that it's not for them, but in many cases it's a popular bow with pics available.

Like Ray said, goes with the territory.
Try not to get too annoyed, some guys cant afford the bow and want to drool on it.  Sometimes they forward to friends...I have made several sales this way.

I'm somewhat guilty........ If I see something that unique or different I may ask for photos with no intention of buying. "BUT"......I have done that and said holy cow I gott'a try that or something similar and next thing it's on it's way to my house. I guess it's part of the process...    :dunno:  I fact it happened last week!.....LOL!

What Ray said, it is part of the process. Seems to me by not posting pictures you are inviting/seeking the looky-lou's.  Take the time and post pictures and most of the "tire kickers" are filtered out.
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

Easier and quicker just to post pics of of the bow to begin with.  Kinda wish it was a rule.

I always ask for pix if I'm considering buying.  Pix give some idea of condition.  And, of course, you can usually tell the woods used in the bow from good pix, particularly the lamination material. Many sellers tend to be a bit overly enthusiastic on condition and may not know the wood combinations of the bows they're selling. I always respond to the seller and thank him/her for the pix, but I usually don't explain why I'm not purchasing.

Any bow seller has experienced that. I stopped putting "more pics available on request"(on my listings). My listings have pictures.
Having said that, I've had literally NO bad experiences buying and selling bows(100+) here or elsewhere.

And the more detailed pics you post, the less you need to send more to anyone...

Save yourself a lot of time and post pictures. Pictures sell and also eliminate the need to send individual Emails for most lookers.

No one's fault but, how about when I asked for pics to be sent to my e-mail on a bow I wanted to BUY, and I never got them and then after a few other people posted up about the bow, the seller posts up that it's sold, and I never got a chance at the bow !, I don't blame the seller, it happens !

When I sell something on here, I try my best to do it on a first come first come bases.

Posting photos in the listing will take care of this nuisance. If we're technologically adept enough to be members of Tradgang, and email requested photos, posting a photo to classifieds must be possible.

It's "Bow Porn".  Just the alure of what it looks like gets guys to ask for pictures.  Save yourself the time, and list the pictures in the add.  Let the window lookers get their fix, and the serious buyers will ask the questions.

X3 on what Ray and Walt said!

As easy as it is to post pics here on TG now......

I too have bought and sold quite a lot on TG and always post pics (does really seem to help / I don't get "tire kickers") and if there are no pics posted for a item I don't bother pursuing it any further.

Everyone has great responses here....
What I don't understand. Ever... Is when people post something for sale and DON'T attach a photo. I don't even consider a purchase without seeing the product. In my case when I sell or trade a bow. I put the best pictures I can take in the ad... It's really what sells the bow! Again I wouldn't get hurt if people ask for pics and just give you a dead end response or no response at all. They just wanna see what's out there!

Exactly what I was thinking. I don't ask if I am not interested, and I do get pics of a lot of bows I pass on. Often I just don't like the look. Do you want me to tel you I think your bow is ugly? I usually just say I will think on out our out is not what I am looking for.  Honestly at times the a bow is close to what I want but not exactly maybe the weight, length, our maybe grip I want, but if she pleases my eye I can't resist. I see the pics at times and can pass.

Many times I see something in the pics not noted in the add.  Lack of detail info including pics will lead to lots of questions and photo requests from people trying to figure out if it is something they want.

At times the seller thinks there is a lot of tire kicking going on while at the same time a lot of buyers are thinking they wish there was more and better detail in the add so they didn't have to waste their and your time trying it figure if it is the right bow for them.  I know I see a lot of adds lacking standard info, and I have forgotten some important info in my adds also like what hand.
