The River can and will change at the drop of a hat. There are rocks a plenty and unless you plan on a lot of time "learning" the Section I would stay off of it. If its really low a canoe or such will get you across but know the Ocmulgee has killed a lot of people. It is tricky that far up for someone that does not know it. Lot of good hunting on the Ocmulgee side. RC

Brandon,
Leave it if you want. If you're looking for someone to drive over to Oaky Woods with you a couple of days, I'd be game.

Added a new(to me) Hill Big 5 to my stable a couple of weeks ago.
My Shelton may be relegated to backup bow for this trip.

Ken and Brandon,
Maybe we can caravan down. I'm planning on stopping for an overnite at Ray Hammond's (he and Squirrel Bait - Mike, that is- are coming to the hunt as well) , but I'm sure we can work something out.
When are you guys planning on heading South?
Got my Super D ready to go with AD Trads and 200 grain Tuskers up front!

Bob,
Brandon and I were planning on meeting in Wytheville Thursday and convoying down I-77.
But it's looking like I may have to work half a day Friday and leave from Roanoke about noon.
I won't know for absolute sure until that Wed. or Thursday.
I think we're both going to try to stay an extra day or two.
I'll keep both of you informed as I get any more information.

I'd love to get in on the caravan as well. I'll be either running I-85 to Charlotte then 77 from there, or I can pick up 77 in Statesville and follow the crowd.

Well we defiantly need to hook up. I am planning on coming down on Thursday morning and we should meet up some where! Where would be a central location? I haven't planed a route yet but any way would work for me.

Let's fire this thread up.
What's everyone going to be shooting in Georgia?
I'll have two bows with me: a NM Shelton and a HH Big 5.
Arrows will be either CE Heritage 150's or AD Trad Lites.
Will be shooting VPA broadheads.

Hill Wesley 68" 55@30 1/2", and I'll probably bring my Halfbreed 68" 50@28 as a backup. It will depend on getting my arrows tuned. They may fly better out of one of the 70" 50@28 bows.
My current broadhead setup is cedar 65-70 with 145gr Zwickey Eskimos, but I am going to put together a set of Ash arrows with a set of the new Tuffhead 225gr. Not sure what the total will be, but if I can get them to tune up, they should hit like a truck!

Wish I could do this! Just too far at 1543 miles to Chochran form my house! Just can't afford it.
Maybe there should be a Western Hill Hog Hunt?

I just put up all my stock "Carolina Nights" (Hill Style) bows on sale via the Sponsor Classifieds. I'm trying to make this hunt but right now the Mother in Law has moved in and needs some medical help. If I can make it I'll bring what doesn't sell as loaners for anyone that needs a bow to participate.

Toelke Super D, 55# @ 28 (I'm pulling 58#'s), Arrow Dynamic Trads with 100 grain inserts, 200 grain hair-poppin' sharp Tuskers or Muzzy's up front. I believe arrow weight is around 665 grains.
Should be a blast!
(BTW, Ken , I do not have a back-up, and, well, how do I say this, all your bows are bass akwards
)!

Brandon,
Suits me to meet up somewhere. I'm flexible with the other guys. I will need some leadership myself, as I missed last year. As we get closer, and I can indeed get the time off, we'll finalize the travel.
