custom bow and arrows listed in St Jude Auction #2
« on: May 15, 2013, 09:56:00 PM »
This is a shameless plug for the custom bow I have listed in Auction 2 for St Jude's. I have built more than 50 Glass lam bows over the last 8 years but I have never sold one. I have had many of you PM me asking to buy a bow over the years to which I always reply that I just build them for fun and give them to friends. Well if anyone is interested in one of my bows built to your specs now is your chance. I will also build you a dozen custom Doug Fir arrows to match the woods in the bow as part of the deal. I was a little vague on wood choices in the listing but I assure you we are talking about a top of the line rig. We are talking exotic woods, exotic horn overlays and tips, antler limb bolts,  beaver tail strike plate and or grip, and the coolest limb veneers I can find. Arrows will include cool staining, cresting, crowning and natural turkey feathers. In preperation for this auction I went out and bought the most expensive piece of riser wood I have ever purchased. You dont have to choose this wood but you can if you want.

This is Leopard spotted African or Gaboon ebony. It is the most interesting board I have ever seen. I know a lot of folks are intrigued by black and white ebony which is usually Mun or Half Moon ebony. The problem is it is usually very light in mass weight and prone to cracking. This African ebony is VERY heavy and hard. It is all heartwood and the board is as perfect as any exotic lumber I have ever seen. Whoever wins this auction will have a one of a kind bow that will be very distinctive and beautiful. Thats one of my arrows in the pic too. I will post pics as I build the bow in a build-along  as well so you can see your bow as it progresses. This is one of the recent bows I have built...

Your bow will come with a skinny, padded loop flemish twist string made of 8125 or Dynaflite 10 in your choice of colors (also made by me).
So I guess You would want to know if my bows have "mojo"?

Thats me your humble bowyer on the left.

You bet! That is my buddy Wade (Stripstrike1) on the right.
And I expect this bow to have extra special mojo engineered by the man upstairs as it is for such a good cause. So get your wallets out and help the kids...the auction starts in 4 days!

Dan,
Great donation!

This is one of the ones I've got my eye on.  Beautiful work by the way.

I need to chime in here fellas.  I have 4 of Dan's bows and they all are shooters and works of art.  Dan is partial to the recurve and I love his 3 piece and one piece longbows.  We have killed alot of critters together over the years and Dan is very instrumental in getting me started in Traditional Archery.  All of these designs have changed a little over the years as he is constantly tinkering to get the perfect bow that is quiet, fast, and beautiful.  Whoever wins this auction will get a truly custom bow and will be doing it for the kids.  Do not hesitate to PM me if you have any questions and I would be happy to answer them as best I can.

Thanks guys and BTW I dont have a waiting list and I will start your bow as soon as the auction closes. And all of my bows come with a lifetime repair or replacement warranty- my lifetime that is... when I can no longer see over the dirt, you're on your own.

Awsome Dan!!!! I have been watching Dans bows for quite a few years now and you will be getting a really nice bow. With that wood it will be a killer bow.
Nice arrows too.

God bless you, Steve

Thanks Steve,
It's not an Eaglewing but I think I can give the winner a bow that looks good and works well.

By the way...I'll try to get the time to post the story and a pic of the hog that Dan killed with the gnarled face.  His name was "Cujo" and he was the most elusive animals that I have ever seen. His skull is one of the coolest trophies.

Thanks all. Wade you have Cujo's skull right? Take a pic of it and post it. That was one tough pig. We hunted him for 3 years.  I only saw him once during the day. Killed him by the light of the full moon at 11PM.  That was fun!

I have a Bonner bow and he is a perfectionist. You will not be disappointed.  His bows are quiet, fast and beautiful.  If StripStrike can kill stuff with them...they are magic as well!

How about some black and white Asiatic water buff horn tips and riser overlays and a nice beavertail strikeplate? I also made a deal today for some super cool B&W ebony limb veneers. This is going to be a very special bow. Who wants it?

Dan,
From the time the auction ends, what kind of turnaround can the winner expect on the new bow and arrows?
I'm getting VERRRRRY interested.....
