My son's 4th grade class did a project where they had to choose someone in history and be them and tell a 2 minute biogrophy of the person. My oldest son, Nick, picked Fred Bear. My boys and I learned quite a bit about Fred over the last month. He truly was an amazing man.
Nick said he wanted to take a bow to school to use as a prop (this was an after school presentation). I immediately thought NO WAY, to many people look at a longbow in a "weird" way.
I emailed his teacher and she said "No Problem". I was stunned. So I emailed the Principle and she said "No Problem, just no arrows". She understands what hunting means to my family thru conversations we have had in the past.
So we did the right thing and were rewarded (CYA). Maybe, just maybe, we are gaining ground as "Traditional Bowhunters".
By the way, Nick choose his St. Joe River longbow because, he said, that Fred Probably would have liked the bow.
