Never to early to prepare for the season

With things a couple of weeks behind schedule this spring in Wisconsin, and with the weather a cool 65 degrees, I decided to get out and hang a stand for the upcoming fall before the bugs get to bad and the weather turns hot. A lot of good sign in this particular area lying just outside their bedding area, I figured it would be a great place to hunt the afternoons.

Looks like a great area to sit and wait. Lots of cover for the deer to slip through and from an elevated position, harder for them to see you.

One thing about this early a placement is the tree will put on this years growth. If there's a strap or chain in any pinch spot the new growth might "get a hold of it".
Also pay attention to your nylon straps. Outdoor exposure can weaken them over time.
I also prefer the August placement.

Looks like a great spot! I like to scout now, or just before now, and then set up stands in August. I will work on ground blinds and freshen in august. I worry about weakening parts of he stand to tree connection during the summer, as well as someone stealing the stands.

The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.
