What's the differance between a 1 piece and 3 piece

I have  a Dale Dye        Trails end and a couple Blacktail      3 piece bows . I'm always kicking around the ideal of getting a 1 piece bow of the above, is there any real

I love the lines of a 1pc bow, I love the convenience of a 3pc bow. The major difference is physical weight and portability.

One nice thing about a 3pc is you can get extra limbs for it.

Like others, the weight.  I think that is a good thing. I think I shoot a heavier  bow better, all other things being equal.

I shoot an ACS CX 3 pc and owned the same bow as a 1 pc for several years. I could not really tell the difference and ended up selling the 1 pc, and of course wishing that I hadn't. LOL
But I have a coupla' 3 pc CX's now to comfort me and may buy another 1 pc.

I like the extra mass weight. I have shipped bows before for my vacations. I think it's easier to ship a 3 pc bow.

There are a few bowyers that make a 2 piece just to level the playing field. Looks like a 1 piece but breaks in the center of the riser for portability.

I have a Leon Stewart three-piece Slammer and a one-piece slammer.  The one-piece is much lighter, but I enjoy shooting both.

I love my 3 piece bows...just something so nice and simple about a one piece...just picked up a nice Dryad longbow blank which is managing to really hold my attention...for me the catch-word is simplicity and for some reason I find a longbow to be simpler than a recurve

The 3 piece is easier to take apart, but I like the flowing lines of a one piece better.

For me it comes down to aesthetics and convenience.  

In my eyes a one piece bow is always nicer looking with its clean flowing lines unbroken by the mate between riser and limb butt.  Not that there aren't nice looking TDs, but the corresponding one piece is always nicer to my eyes.

That said, it's tough to beat the convenience of a TD.  I also like the heft of a TD, one piece bows are a little lighter.  If I only had one bow it would definitely be a TD.  I'm in the process of thinning my herd a little, keeping my TD Blacktails, Dye, Silvertip, and Robertson...and taking the money I get and putting it toward a one piece Blacktail and one piece Silvertip recurve...

I have several Blacktail 1 pc. and a Blacktail TD with 2 sets of limbs which is very nice.  Gotta love being able to change the bow with a different set of limbs.
I do like the 1 pc more though.  They feel lighter in the hand and therefore less strain shooting a long session.  They feel different but I'm not sure how much of that is mental perception.
But when you are hunting, hopefully you are shooting only 1 or 2 arrows.
