Oh how I love my Tembo, let me.............
« on: May 30, 2013, 07:22:00 PM »
Oh how I love my Tembo, let me count the way..Yep I said way, as in one, cause one good shot is all it takes.
For the last week and a half the first cold shot of the evening, at 20 yrds, has been dang near in the same spot, within an inch or so.
Im no great shot by any means, but on occasion you come across a bow that is truly compatible with your style of shooting and for me this 25 yr old Tembo, just seems to work.
What bow, new or old, has been the most compatible for you?   [/IMG]

Not much more satisfying than an almost perfect cold shot from the beauty and simplicity of a HH bow.  Nice shootin'

The holy grail. A bow that shoots where you look on the first shot. Never sell it.

Ive never shot a newer one, but id sure enjoy trying one out!
No doubt my wife wont approve, as the temptation may be enough to prompt an order from HHA.   :biglaugh:

She's got a few yrs on her, with some handling marks, which just adds character but it sure doesnt affect the way it performs.
Some things just get better with age.   :archer2:

The only two bows that have had that 'first cold shot' quality you speak of, among all the bows I have tried, are 1. my Slammer takedown 66" and 2. my 21st Century Lonestar 68".  They just work for me.  It's nice when you find that bow or bows that just agree with you.

I parted ways with my Old Tom- the straight grip just didnt do it for me.  I missed having a Hill bow very quickly.  I also discovered recently that I can shoot decently right handed.  Anyway, I recently acquired mikenova's righty forward handle/locator grip Schulz Cheetah clone made by David Miller as a one-off.  I have high hopes that it will be that 'cold shot' bow for me right handed.

For me Paul it is my Berry Vixen. No matter the day, weather, or how long since I have shot it I can not seem to miss with it. If times get tough and I was forced to sell all but one the Vixen will always be by my side

Nice bow, nice shooting.

Advice. .  correct your target and shoot tighter to, or better yet, above that elbow or you will be liver shooting at best. Makes for long trails

My Shrew Hill is not my best bow ... but it is the bow I shoot the best, we jsut have some kind of connection.  I guess a close second would be my Sunset Hill.

Question:  What bow, new or old, has been the most compatible for you?

Answer:  64" alum. riser A&H ACS-CX 3 pc. longbow, 51@28"  I'll hit a fallen leaf on my lawn regularly, first shot at 20-35 yds.  Always fun doing that!

You know though...it could be any bow you shoot long enough and enjoy shooting.  Arrow consistency is key and I do not adhere to that often enough but grab from my pail and head out the door.

I think a Tembo will be my next Bow.
No shelf on it so I can shoot it both left and right.

For me, its my first custom longbow I ever ordered, a Thunderstick Mag by Jim Reynolds 60", 50@28.  I still have it and will never part with it.  It is the standard for shootability that I compare all other bows to.  An incredibly smooth shooting accurate bow that strikes with authority.  It is certainly nice to have one of those bows.  Glad you have one for yourself Moleman.

I like that "...let me count the WAY"!  Good one Moleman.  Glad you're happy.  I also like that piglet effigy, you got him right in the vittels! My 59# is getting comfortable, the 62# longbow will be here in 2 weeks, and that's it for me.   Cheers
