Pa- is it your first VK?

I was thinking about arranging something with Kimba Burrows on the lefty VK 'Jet' he's got on the classifieds.  I just don't know though.  People seem split in their reviews of them, it's either "awesome!" or "overrated!".  Just wonder if I bought it if I would be paying for a name or just the "prestige"-kinda like a Corvette/Porsche: 50-100k/ace performer vs a Bentley: 250-400k/lots of fluff?  Anyone have any thoughts?  That lefty VK Jet is pretty evil looking...

2014 update-  on my second one!  They are the real deal!!

I've had three Habus and still have 2.  They are terrific bows. They are different but I put them against my other favorite wooden riser recurves the Schafer Silvertip and Bigfoot Sasquatch.

The best thing about Habus too me is the grip and smooth draw. The bow is plenty quick also.

I've thought about the Jet that is for sell also. Two things hold me back:

1. It has LB limbs.
2. It is about 4 pounds hotter than I want.

As far as the white lettering, I would think Chris could easily leave it off the bow or do something in black.  I will talk to him and let him know he should ask customers what they would like.

Alright i finally got some time yesterday to setup both sets of limbs. i will give you an update on my preliminary review of this bow.

My favorite part of this bow is the grip (no real change from my previous VK's) the grip just is simply the best i have ever felt.  so repeatable and stable.

i am not sure how chris does it my the mass weight on this bow is incredible - i have a couple other macassar and BW ebony bows and they are just not that heavy.  again not sure if he puts lead in there or what but i really like the mass.

Those two features allow this bow to be so accurate - once i figured out that it liked weaker spine arrow.  This bow flat out shoots consistently - it will put an arrow where i am looking every time.

I know everyone is wondering about the recurve limbs and the amazing thing to me is that i have the recurve limbs quieter than the LB limbs.  The recurve limbs are very quiet for recurve limbs and i am far from being final "tuned".  The limbs are very smooth on the draw and seem to be faster than the LB limbs ( as chris said they would be).

The build quality is awesome - fit and finish is perfect.  The macassar is stunning and the use of bocote on the recurve was a great last minute idea.  kinda wish i would have got both limbs in bocote.  Chris's bocote is second to none that i have seen.  The lines on this bow are just cool - i love the look of this bow!

Now for a couple things i have not figured out yet:

the LB are not quiet, not close to previous VK LB limbs - i know they will be quiet but right now they are not and it is driving me crazy. I ordered a diff string from Alan hoping that will do the trick.  cannot remember if previous VK had chris string or some one elses.  I talked to chris last night and got some things to try this week.

Lastly the speed is a little less than i was hoping for - when tuned it will do a little better but it is really not as fast as i had hoped for.  The bow is plenty fast and compared to most it is fast, but i think Steve and Kirk may have spoiled me in this department    :notworthy:    :notworthy:

As many of you know there is something about these bows - they are special and  just feel soooo good to shoot.   Tough to get but worth it if you can.

let me know what questions you have and i will try to answer them.

Mike, my longbow limbs got quieter after some shooting.  Break in period? I don't know. Glad you like the recurve limbs, that is what is coming on my next one very soon.  Can't decide between ebony and coccobolo!

Not sure if it matters or not but the ebony feels heavier than the cocobola I had. I love the extra weight - might help your decision.

My longbow limbs were noisey also, a string and silencers from alan did the trick for me.
