Tuning wood?

What's the method of tuning? Do ya'll glue  tip and nock? Then pull the tip and trim the front?

Might also think about trying a lighter weight point to increase spine, before cutting. Going 25 grains lighter in point weight will increase your dynamic spine by around 5 lbs, about equal to shortening the arrow by around an inch.

I used to just bareshaft my wood the same as any other arrow.I would glue the point on and remove it for tuning,I would also trim off the old glue with a pocket knife.The old glue would gum up and ruin the grinding disc's on my Woodchuck.You can brake a wood shaft if you are way off on spine.I have broke a few when they hit the target,usally if I picked a weaker spine then I needed.I always saved a bareshaft or two out of a dozen for checking other bows for the proper spine.

I keep a bunch of shafts around the shop of various spines with points and nocks glued on for bareshafting, I have scribbled notes on them re weight and spine.
