Your Favorite 50's Style Recurve?
« on: June 11, 2013, 12:29:00 PM »
I know we've had various threads touching on the 50's style recurve, but I thought we could list our favorites in one thread for those (like myself) looking to pick one up...something to add to the Compton shopping list!

So tell us about your 50's curve and if possible PICS!

Probably the best one I personally have shot is the Kohannah Kurve. Bob's bow is super smooth on the draw and shoots a flat arrow.

Only own one, but I love it.  62" Chesapeake by Tom Parsons.  I like longbows and this thing has the longbow grip, just with flipped tips.

There are quite a few of the 50's recurves that have grips that fit me-Pearsons, Bears, Roots, Cravotta Brothers to name a few.  Kyle, I think you're getting as many bows as I have!!!

The Whippenstick inferno is my favorite 50s style recurve overall.Very smooth, very fsst, dead in the hand and quiet.Beautifully shaped limbs as well!

In a Classic Vintage original 50s style I really like the 64 inch 59 Kodiak for a longer draw. The 1962 kodiak even though it was made in the 60s is a really great shooting Vintage 50s style recurve

The Robertson Peregrine is a good one if you can find one.  It is the best performing bow my brother and I have ever tested.

Tough to beat a 59 Kodiak for nostalgia though.

I can vouch for the BW PSR, Toelke Chinook, Kohanna Kurve, and the GN Super Ghost.  I shot them all equally well and If I had to choose one, it'd be the PSR, but they're all pretty close.

I had a 64", 45@29" Kurve and let me tell you, it is one of the bows I most regret getting rid of! Needed money at the time or I would never have sold it. If your thinking about Sean's bow, I wouldn't hesitate to long.
