Tim Meigs Longbow
« on: June 11, 2013, 07:27:00 PM »
I recently bought a used Tim Meigs longbow.  I'm curious if anyone out there has one and still shoots it.  I really enjoy shooting the one I just bought.
I've heard it said that Christianity is a crutch.  To me, it's a walking stick to use on the path of life.

Tim was my mentor when I got into the bowyer world. My family has shot Tim's bows for as long as I can remember. My mom has a recurve that is probably 40 years old. I have a Du-O-Flex longbow that is probably 20 years old. I also just recently found a Meigs longbow made in the late 50's that is #99 0f Tim's first 100 bows. I got it as a wall hanger in our shop. My bows have a large Tim Meigs influence in them. Those that no Tim the bowyer legend will tell you he is a great and wonderful guy. Yes, he is a character!

Most the time, you hear Tim,before you see him,at a shoot. That Laugh of his,is an original.
Target archery is seeing how far away you can get and still hit the bull's eye. Bowhunting is seeing how close you can get and never miss your mark.

I have a Meigs Bamboo Longbow I picked up a couple of months ago that I have been shooting every day.  When I bought it I was told it was made in the late 70's/early eighties.  I enjoy it alot. It's a really well behaved Hill style, it will be in the woods with me this fall Lord willing.
