Anyone from South Carolina ? ( Myrtle)
« on: June 14, 2013, 02:22:00 PM »
I am headed to Myrtle for a family vacation and thought it would be nice to meet some local tradgang folks . I would love to find some public land to hunt hogs on while I'm down but don't know the area . Conway seems to be the closest bigger town on the map to where I will be so if anyone has any info or would like to meet and do some shooting please let me know. Thanks Drew

Drew,

If you go to the SC Department of Natural Resources you can find info regarding state land that is open for public hunting.  They have a large track along the coast but I can't remember how close it is to the Myrtle Beach area.  I've got a little piece of land in Lancaster Co. that I hope to retire to when I leave the Navy...

My brother lives in Murrell's Inlet and I've been trying to get him to visit the archery club in Conway off 544, but he's too busy  :(  My nephews love shooting bows.

I am a couple hours south in Charleston....some hogs up around Pee Dee River and throughout Horry County.  Check with DNR...

Used to be a guy around went by Lee in SC...had some hog lease access on farms but last time I went and talked he said the hogs moved to areas not being hunted as hard.

Good luck...

Unfortunately I'm headed home in 1 1/2 weeks.  But Aiken & Bacon Strip would be a hike for you anyway as they are on the Georgia line.  You might have better luck with Redfish in the coastal estuaries  :)  tippit

Depending on when you go, Woodbury WMA is your best bet. It's about 45 min from the beach and another 10 to the kiosk to sign in. It's west of Conway on 378 and is 20000 acres between the Little Pee Dee and Great Pee Dee rivers. There's some hogs there too

I'm up in Hartsville, little north of darlington. Got around 500 acres of swamp to roam if you're interested.

Nomad88 gives good advice. I am in Myrtle Beach.

When are you coming down? I do not hunt in the summer heat anymore, to may insects and temps to high. But can get you to a good range or just fling some in the back yard, nomad88 could join us.

Doing Ok! I am on vacation the week of the 4th of July but looks like you will be gone by then. I'm about 3 1/2 hours away from the beach. I hope you can find something to do over there    :D
