Takedown Bow Blanks!!. . .Dryad Bows - PICS
«

After working through the logistics and getting a reliable source for the sleeves, Jason and I are proud to offer a takedown version of our popular bow blank.
The blank will be a modified version of the straight handled blank with a bit more reflex installed. The blank will be trimmed to width through the handles and cut down the middle. We will include the takedown sleeve system along with instructions on the installation.
Our introductory offer will be $175 for the TD osage blank and $225 for the TD yew blank. Also included is a copy of our DVD.
We'll try and get some pics of one up later today.

Thanks Charlie!!
We did this in response to all of the requestes we get from Europe and the inablility to ship there without breaking the bank. I hope they can now take advantage of the blanks. Also the takedown is cool if you travel much.

Can I get a TD blank with wood to make riser shaped like a Windtalker or Soothsayer? Who installs the TD sleeve?

Bjorn,
All of our blanks are in the Hunter style. We can leave the handle square in the one piece so you can shape it. The TD sleeve is pretty straight and can be built up a bit with leather if you want but I don't see a sculpted grip with it.

Mike , its very easy to build up the grip of a takedown sleeve with Bondo ( auto body filler)
and then shape it down to desired dimensions.
But this may be something best done by your customer as it is a personal thing on the shape and size . Easy to work down once it is hard with a couple of rasps and some sandpaper.

Jason,
Installing a sleeve is as easy as falling off of a horse and a lot less painfull. Rusty and I did an article for PA a couple years back. I'll include a copy with each sale.

Mike, you should try doing some up with the fiberglass home made sleeve, like the article that was in primitive archer a few years ago, you can shape your handle any way you want then, plus you dont have to hold on to a cold chunk of metal. I did a selfbow up with one a couple years ago and it worked great.

Ryan,
I was watching Mikes build video again last nite in preparation of the 2 blanks coming and thought about that sleeved glass article also. Dunno if you could pull it off with a bulbous handle but you definatly could with just about any other handle.
Did you know though that both Fox Archery and Wes Wallace archery are able to do just about whatever style grip you want and they do use the sleeves to boot. They use the smaller sleeve, not sure how they build it up or if they dont just using a milling machine to bore it out???
It's the only thing stopping me at this point from buying a wesley special, or bows that cannot be made with some kind of locator or dished grip and still use a take down mech. Lots of bows out there using the sleeve, that for whatever reason dont or wont attempt to do this.

Dan -- don't rule out a bow bolt...seemingly, you could put one in just about anything...lots of places using it on recurve type grips.

Dan,
The bow bolt is a great way to get a one piece look and feel and the convience of a two piece. The blank doesn't have enough wood in the grip area to support it safely though. That's why we went with the sleeve on this model.
We use the bolt on all the other bows.
