Shot me a chondrostei with a big rostrum...
« on: June 15, 2013, 01:10:00 PM »
I've never been completely spooled out of line on my AMS before but this leviathan did it in about 3 seconds. Weighed just under 60#. My personal largest so far.

Glad I bought a chest freezer because I got enough fish meat to open up my own Captain D's. Also filleted out a few gar for the boiling pot.  Nothing big, just good 36" eating size.

Hope these pics are sized correctly.  I recently switched to imgur and still learning to use it.

Do you need a tag in Oklahoma? I shot about a 30 pounder last year here in SD. I will try to post some pic's tonight of my fish and my rope burned fingers. It usually takes about 2 years to draw a tag here. We had snagging tags this year, caught 3 over 70 pounds. Great fun also.

Nice fish!  When I lived in OK my neighbor used to snag them and was going to cook some up for me but we never got together so I have yet to try spoonbill.  I think he called them paddlefish.  Can you educate me as to the title of your thread?  There's a couple words there I am not familiar with.  Congrats!

Congratulation, those are nice.  Did you save the skins?  I always figured they would look good on the back of a bow.
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

Chondrostei = cartilaginous fish such as paddlefish and sturgeons

Rostrum = beak or snout

Awesome fish!!!  Paddlefish are just cool.
