Need help replacing nock overlays on recurve

Some time ago I broke the nock overlay off of my beloved Root Gamemaster recurve.

I have finally worked up the confidence to try and fix it myself. I have some phenolic tip overlays I got from 3R and I also have some pieces of deer antler left over from making a knife.

1. Any pro or con to using either?  Is there a better option.   The limb is very narrow at the tip and is  slightly curved. Also,I will have to glue to fiberglass.

2. The Phenolic overlays (from 3R) came with two pieces, a black and a reddish brown colored one.   Do I have to use both?   Can I use either?   I don't want to be able to use FF strings, I just want to be able to shoot it again.

3. What would be the best glue to use to adhere either of these to the fiberglass limbs?

I don't need this bow to hunt with this year but it was my first real recurve so I would like to get it fixed.

lots of guys use a good super glue gel sand everything to fit then glue and clamp

Mike to make both limbs look alike it seems you would have to do it to both ends.  If you are not interested in FF then you don't need the phenolic if you wanted to put the deer antler on.  You can put both the phenolic and the deer antler and then it would be ready for FF.  If you are going to use only the phenolic you can put both pieces staggered so when you sand them you see one color and part of the other or you can just use one.  You need to sand the tip flat so you can glue it flat to the tip. Also sand the phenolic and antler and clean all glueing surfaces with acetone.  The best stuff for gluing to me is Smooth On but there is other stuff.  I think 3 Rivers sells Kwik glue for such purposes.  If you use Smooth On you will need some small c clamps.  Also get some flat 1/4 or 3/8 pieces of plywood and waxed them with some time of wax. You wax them so the glue does not adhere to it.   Sandwich the phenolic or the antler between the two wax plywood and clamp with two small c clamps.   This can be tricky trying to get the clamps on since the glue wants to slide but you learn how to do it. You might want to glue on the phenolic then later the antler. Then with a file and sander either electric or hand sand the tips and with a round file like a chain saw file cut the stirng grooves by following the existing grooves. Just take your time and study it before you attack the project.  You can even take a pic with your camera of the tips before you start to see what shape you want to sand them to.  Good Luck
