Get on the bike and  ride the hilliest areas you can find.  It will build your lungs and it is easier on your knees.

And, don't forget the hard candy for altitude sickness if it comes on.

Keep an eye out on the eastern slope of any hill or mountain that is near a creek. ARROWHEADS

Have a good time!

I have been out there twice and had a ball.  You guys will enjoy it.

Just a couple more days.  Final prep done today, all that's left is 3 days of work (My mind is already in Wyoming), then pack the truck and pick up Roger.

I know my past with keys, so Roger having a set is going to be a pretty good idea.  Sledge or no Sledge.

Long story short...My truck idled on the boat launch to the St. Clair River for about 2 hrs during the peak of Walleye season holding up the rest of the boat launchers while my boat and trailer were in the water and keys for the truck were safely locked inside the  RUNNING  truck.

The keys weren't the problem. Ron gave me easy access to a sledge hammer and a locked gate. It was his fault.    :goldtooth:

Good luck guys, I'm expecting a good story or two out of this adventure.

Roger, I'm putting the blame on Ron for the key incident.  Had he had them labeled and color coded like your Grrr-animals hunting clothes are, there wouldn't have been any need for the sledge.  Of course, we could always mention the word combination of 'canoe' and 'Armstrong Creek' if we want to cast a few pebbles inside of glass walled cabins.     ;)      :p

ha! I jut think Ron should know better than to let me have a sledge hammer. Who among us would open a gate with a key, when you can bash it open with heavy steel?!

Roger, it must be getting close to you leaving because you've got a twitch in your trigger finger with all those double posts.   :archer:

OK, to bring this back on track a little, the banter is really about getting ready and anticipation. I think G.Fred talked about it in one of his TBM columns a few years ago.  How great is it that the preparation and anticipation of the hunt or the trip adds to the length of time we're actually enjoying our hunt experience.

Ron LaClair was just up north here visiting for a few days and of course there was bow shooting, good food and talk of the upcoming work bee next month and hunt week at camp a month after that.  The excitement for the Shrewhaven hunt is building and so all of us understand and feel your anticipation.  Good luck guys, be safe and make some memories.
