Starting to do some serious daydreaming about the high country and bugling bulls . Any one else?

They are the critters that make me put on my running shoes even though it feels almost too hot and humid to be outside.  Less than three months until I get back into the WY mountains and can't stop thinking about it. Many more miles to run and arrows to fling until then though.

Me too. Hiked the local mountain twice this weekend to make sure the boots are well broken in and would not give me any issues...all is well.

Waiting for September in Wyoming and the three other Tradgangers.

I moved to Colorado seven years ago when I retired from the Navy so I'd always be ready to go, lol! 8-10k ft don't seem so bad when you live at over 5k ft!

Bugling bulls yes. High country no. I hunt on the coast, elevation 200 to 2000 ft.
But I am begining to feel the rut coming on.

I've still got some weight to drop and need to get my lungs in better shape... as I will be packing in to about 10,500' and hunting from there. I live at 600'.

Since I've retired, I'm trying to make this an annual hunt for as long as my body and billfold holdout!

Good luck all!!!!!!!!

I bumped a herd of 20-25 elk a week ago near a spring I was going to hang a trailcam on.  A little spike and yearling cow let me walk to within 35-40 ft before an older cow spotted me and barked.  Only two months till the season begins here in Oregon!

I have already been seeing a lot of elk this spring. It is making it hard to focus anything but the upcoming season. Come on August 17!!

Heading out the last weekend of August to CO with some hardcore guys.  This will be an awesome hunt.  Shooting and running every day.

Always.  Wished I lived in an elk state.  Ohhhh, yes, we have wild elk in WI, but not enough to hunt yet.  I would love to be one of the first traditional hunters in the state to kill a native elk with stick and string.  Imagine all the wheel & bullet guys I'll have to compete against for a harvest permit    :banghead:

We only have about 250 animals or so...I hope it was a successful calving spring.

Kris
