If you could only own two bows....
« on: June 23, 2013, 11:36:00 AM »
Ok,

Question. If you could only own two bows what style, weight etc. would you choose?

I have the opportunity to buy a second bow. I have a Whip classic that I shoot pretty well. My dilemma is do I buy another r/d in the same general weigh class? Do I purchase a recurve or stick with one style and stick with it. I just want to make sure I'm not missing something. I would like to purchase another bow however : ).

Morrison ILF recurve.  And a long bow.  Right now I have a Don Dow longbow and on of Javaman's Inferno longbows.  Mid 40 pounds draw weight.

I like recurves best and my two favorite are Blacktail and Silvertip.

I'd have a TD Blacktail and a one piece Silvertip.

Well don't you have two bows already?  I see a Dalaa in your sig?  If you love your Whip I highly recommend a Stewart Slammer or one of Chad Holm's longbows.  You're certainly not missing anything just having a Whip.  Dan Toelke makes a world class longbow that is as good or better than anything out there.  Those couple I mentioned are all made with the pinnacle of craftsmanship.  If you're willing to take a downgrade to more 'utilitarian' but not bad finish but also truly outstanding performance and stability, 21st Centurys are also worth a try.  I recently saw past the bad net press from years past and the hunting grade finish and picked one up and wouldn't sell it for anything, it shoots that well.

My two choices would be my Slammer 3pc takedown and my 1pc 21st' Lonestar Carbon.

If I didn't have and love the Slammer, a Whip 2pc would be in my life.  And in a 1pc, my alternative to the Lonestar in a much shorter package would be a Shrew.  Shrews are an instinctive archer who loves a short bow's delight.

A 45# Bear Grizzly, and a 55# Bear Grizzly...

1 light weight, and a heavier 1 just in case...

Or, 1 for everyday hunting, and 1 to put away for when I get "old".....

I think it is hard to beat the RER Arroyo for a recurve. I like the longbows I make better than any I have shot so far.58" curve at around 50#, 64" longbow at the same wt. works for me.

Going from bows I've owned, I'd say get a  Kwyk Styk if you want a recurve.

If you want to stick with longbows, maybe a takedown Whip, Stalker or HC Bobcat.

If a one pc longbow is more like what you want, well then there is only 1 answer:  MOAB

I am in the process now of going down to two bows, as soon as i get all my info and pictures down i will be posting in the classifieds. I recently picked up a used Habu Vyperkahn bocote longbow, and i am on the list for a blacktail, need i say more. So now, i am going down to two bows, what goes is my Dwyer, mojostick, Kota Prairie Swift, and maybe my Habu Bushmaster, and my Cascade brushawk, but my Brushawk is an amazing bow for blinds and a great shooter, so i may only get down to four bows, will see.

I don't need two, but if I had to, I would keep my 62" Super D (47#s@ 251/2") and add a 58" two piece Classic Whip (52#s @ 26").

I'd own 2 Curves. One would be TT Titan ILF.

The 2nd...that's a lot tougher to choose because I'd want a great looking bow as well: Schafer, Habu, Sasquatch...
