Help with suggestions for quotes/ sayings/mottos, etc
« on: June 30, 2013, 10:20:00 AM »
Hi folks,
I am looking for some suggestions for a short quote that could be hunting related but could also just be life related. Can be inspirational but I am not looking for anything overtly religious for this particular purpose. This quote will be displayed in a room I have remodeled in my basement. So give me your best quotes whether they be hunting related or otherwise.  Thanks!
          Dan
To me, the ultimate challenge in bowhunting is not how far away you can succesfully make a killing shot but rather how close you can get to the animal before shooting.

Dan, man am I glad you asked... I've been meaning to update my signature for a while but kept forgetting.

I'm a proud right wing whacko BTW but I love JFK's quote below and recite it to my boys often.

Someone on here (sorry, old memory can't cite reference) said "You can't hit what you're trying NOT to miss!"

I personally love that one in anything to do with shooting!

On life, I like Ron's quote.

Mining the many "signatures" on people's posts, like Ron's, might give you a lot of choices!
The words "Child" and "terminal illness" should never share the same sentence! Those who care-do, others question!

Something I try and relay to everyone that enters my man cave.

On these walls you simply see trophies...I see the culmination from hours of preparation and hard work that gave me an experience afield from a day I'll never forget!

Or one of my favorites.

"No such thing as luck. Luck is a moment in time where preparation meets opportunity."

Great thread, this should be a good one for years to come that many of us will benefit from.

From an old Ray Stevens song - "There is none so blind as he who will not see."

From John Wayne - "Life is tough. It's tougher if you're stupid"

From John Wayne - "Talk low, talk slow, and don't talk too much."  (Wish I could do better on this one in my life.)

From Dan Quillian - "Don't fall in love with your arrows. You ain't gonna have them that long." (after seeing me stressing over shooting an arrow into the grass while testing out one of his bows))

From my dad - "If a man's word is no good, the man is no good."

Ever since I came into this world the force that has guided me seems to have been the urge to Go and See.

The idea of re-living his life if it were possible has occurred to almost everyone, I am sure. My own has been enjoyable, thrilling, frightening, and many times one false move would have caused sudden death, but I would not change my path if I had it to travel again, except I would perhaps spend even more time with nature than I have done. All over the world there are some who will understand, while others cannot.

Being an ER nurse, one of my personal favorites: lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine.
Another that I often tell other staff on those days that I happen to be in charge: If you have issues that need to be settled,  close the door behind you. What I don't see, I can't testify to in a court of law (this applies to issues with other staff and unruly patients / family members).
"The first 40 years of childhood are always the hardest"
