Has anyone used moose lures? If you did...how was your success? What brand did you use?

Wassily,
I believe Marty McMahon, hunting with Hunter's Point Guide Service, killed a very nice bull where his guide, Paul, who raises cattle, used beef cow urine sprayed around the area. Maybe MM will chime in with details.
Best regards,
Todd

A good moose lure? Take yer fishing rod, you'll need a good stout one at that. Tie on a big bunch of willow twigs and a heavy lead weight. Now sneak in real close to the bull and toss the twigs under his nose, now we all know moos love willow twigs. Then slowly reel the twigs in closer and closer to yourself, the moose will follow like magic and soon you'll have him in bow range. This was told to me by an old timer so I know it's true

Chef, any leader recommendations, you know, dragging willow twigs in brush can put a strain on some leader materials

Wassily,
Oops! That was Biggie Hoffman's hunt with guide Paul Corliss - not MM. Todd

The Montana decoy is very good if you are into that sort of thing.

What you want is mare in heat urine. Never heard of anyone ever using cow/cattle urine until today.
We use a couple of gallons on mare urine on a 14 day hunt every year. We take rags - 4or5 and put them in large zip lock - fill bag half way with urine and when heading to stand we place the rags out on tree branches around the stand. When leaving after each hunt we put them back in bag - don't leave out when not there.
Montana decoy good as well, just watch them if you have them in a boat - they have an expensive habit of jumping out of boat and sinking fast! We tie ours down now!

I've used Buck-Stop moose cow in heat scent and I killed 60"+ bulls both times. The air taxi guy in AK swears by it. It sure didn't scare them away. I killed one at 10 yards and one at 6 steps. I'd saturate some rags with the scent and hang around the perimeter of camp. One bull knocked clothes off a drying line after I shot it and it ran through camp.

Might want to be careful with scent lures. According to Alaska's 2013-2014 Hunting Regulations on page 20 it discusses lures with deer and elk urine. It does not specifically address moose urine(?)
It might be worth a call to ADF&G.
