Never under estimate the old timers
« on: July 04, 2013, 08:05:00 PM »
Just felt the urge to loose a few arrows out of an old timer today, so I strung up my early 50's Ben Pearson Javelina, 66" 53 @ 28 and all business.
Back then there was no carbon, fast flight, ILF's, warfs ETC. just meat and potato bows that were built to hunt and shoot, and thats what they did and still do, ooooh so well, at least those that have survived time.
Even though they lack the fancy veneers and modern composites of today, never under estimate the old timers, they may just surprise you.....so much in fact, that you might find yourself sitting in your favorite stand with one.   :campfire:   [/IMG]

Love the Hill heads. Old stuff has always stood the test of time and the quality is amazing.

A lot of these old bows perform with modern ones.  I love my vintage lineup.

Nice bow

I have a \\ROOT bow (recurve style) with a straight handle... it is 45# @ 28" but sure pulls a lot harder than any other mid 40's bow I shot!

I don't shoot it often... there can only be so many shots in an old wooden bow like that...

Here's one I just acquired.

I had to replace one of the horn nocks on it.

It turns out it's a sweet shooter and dead quiet.

Yes sir!

I got it and fixed the limb tip on the lower limb.

It shoots really quiet and hits where I'm looking.

Considering I have to shoot it like a pony bow with it's short draw. (It's marked 42@26)

God bless,Mudd
