I killed this guy in a snowstorm a couple days before Christmas in 2010 here in Indiana. I checked the weather at work and saw that the wind was supposed to change around 3 pm with a storm front. The wind would be perfect for this stand, setup between bedding and cut corn, and with the front I figured they would be up and moving. I hustled home and crawled up in the tree around 4pm and about an hour later, right at dusk, I heard a sound behind, well UNDER, me. I looked down through the stand grate and I.D'd this guy by the big brow tine. Never saw him the whole season, but I had a photo of him in July on a mineral lick 1/3 of a mile away. I let him get out in front and shot him at 6 or 7 yards with my 50lb Jack Howard Gamemaster Jet. He didn't go far, and I went home and waited for my wife to get home to take pictures and help drag him out (her job is to shine the flashlight in my eyes!). The snowcover on the buck is from an hour after I shot him. We got about 6 inches in that storm....and I got a GREAT Christmas present. Only late season mature (4 1/2 yr old) buck I've killed.
