I Killed My Longbow Today
«

Today I was shooting all my bows and decided to take my Byron Ferguson Woodsman Longbow for a go. Shot some terrible arrows and went walking up the back porch steps. I caught my foot or something and fell right on the bow! My left arm took the blunt of the force but a Longbow limb tip cannot hold the weight of a 210lb man. I heard a sickning "Snap" of wood and was horrified to see I took my top limb tip clean off! Im pretty sick to say the least but I guess its time to go bow shopping and see what I can get for this fall but man I cant belive my luck. Ill get over it but im thinking the Bear Montana is my best choice. I wanted to try a 70-75lb Longbow but cant find none in my 300-400$ price range but Bear dont make them that heavy. Just had to vent sorry guys

Sorry to hear about your loss. You nver know if you are patient. Sometimes those heavy bows are tough to move and you may get a deal.

I knew a guy who had the same thing happen and he had his bow shortened by 4 inches. Not the same beast but he didnt have to toss it.

There's a heavy Dave Johnson in the classifieds now. American Semi-Longbow at it's best!!

Cut the same amount off the other limb, the weight will go up as you wanted, and you will still have a hunting bow.

How much of the tip broke off? Was it a clean break? Fixable?

For a factory bow, the Bear Ausable can't be beat. Just a little over your price range though.
