I'm glad he is a Detroit Tiger! I like to see a professional athlete that kids can look up to.

Way to go, Ron...this thread reminded me that someone that hunted moose with us last fall has known Andy since he was a kid...now I am going to be up all night trying to remember the circumstances that came up under and who it was...if you get the urge to shoot a big old ugly Canadian moose give me a holler and bring Andy and his dad along

I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42

It just doesn't get better than this!  Ron, Andy, Tigers and Traditional Archery!

When Ron first shared that picture of Andy and his buck on TradGang some time ago I pm'd Ron, saying "I know that guy, but I just can't put my finger on where I know him from."  Ron replied, "well, he's got the same first name as you and wears a ballcap to work."  The lightbulb went off!

I've been a diehard Tigers fan forever, never missing a game either on TV or the radio.  Before I even knew Andy was a trad bowhunter he was one of my favorite Tigers.  The way he plays the game, old school, with dignity and heart and having fun.

Now, when watching the Tigers, every time Andy's up to bat the kids yell...

Lets hope he stays with good ball clubs like the Tigers. If he unfortunately ends up on the Yankmees one day, he'll probably end up switching to a compound and hunt behind high fences!! Seriously its cool to see that some pro ball players enjoying archery like we do. Thanks for sharing Ron.

Andy's flying out of Michigan today, I forwarded him a link to this thread and told him that he had a lot of fans on Trad Gang, I'm sure he'll appreciate all of the kind words....     :clapper:

I believe that was the same Andy that played his minor league baseball in Erie, PA.  He and I were planning a get together when he headed off to the big leagues?

Count me amongst the anti-Yankee crew!  Although I bleed Royal blue, I'm now an Andy Dirks fan.

Neat story, thanks for sharing!

Okay, Ron, I've just got to ask:  is the dog under the table a loyal friend or another stuffed part of the ambiance of the store?  LOL!

That's Dolly my Beagle Buddy. She likes to hang around the shop and let visitors pat her head and scratch her back. I take her up to hunting camp sometimes. One year we had a bear come in to the deer pole behind the cabin. Dolly smelled him from inside the cabin and wanted to be let out. When I opened the door She flew off the porch like a banshee and ran the bear off...   :D

Andy and Cabrera were the only two H R's in the game and it put the Tigers into an early lead. Andy also got a single and stole a base and was voted Player of the game with 43% of the vote.

Congratulations Andy...    :clapper:

I am very blessed, I first shot bow with Andys dad Rick over 30 years ago. He is a realy good trad bowhunter and woodsman and taught Andy well.
Andy told me he was going to Rons shop and he sent me that pic of him and Ron, I text back priceless!
I get to shoot and hunt with Andy in the off season and he is a very good shot with that longbow!
Go Tigers and Dirks!
