OK..let's say you have $800-$900 to spend....
« on: July 24, 2013, 03:37:00 AM »
...and are about to set sail on an amazing voyage that is destined for troubled waters and will leave you stranded on a deserted island. You HAVE TO BUY ONLY a NEW BOW ( or bows?) nothing used!  The island you will be miserably stranded on only offers you unimaginable and previously unseen beauty, game animals of your dreams, a couple beautiful (also stranded) natives that love to hunt and gather, unlimited pure fresh water, abundant natural resources to make all the arrows you will ever need......and the NFL package.   So what do you purchase before you head out on this horribly doomed voyage?

I would call Steve at eagle wing and get him to build be a "plain" bow. No fancy expensive woods so he could keep the cost down. It would drive him crazy and he would do upgrades for free to "pretty it up" cause he just loves what he does. BUT I would have a top end performance bow that I would not feel bad beating up on an island!!!

Big Jim Buffalo in osage and walnut. You can keep the NFL package...who needs that when you have a couple beautiful natives?

Base model TallTines and have money left over. I have taken mine in the most inacessable, unforgiving, and downright nasty places in NA and it has never let me down. It would flourish forever in your paradise.

His description didn't say the natives were female! ---just beautiful people!        :scared:

Bigfoot bow--1 piece to improve durability; probably flatliner with special side plate configuration to shoot cane and shoot arrows and knapped heads. Learn to knap before departure and take plenty of band-aides!   :jumper:

A top of the line custom one piece longbow from stalker stickbows! Definitely the outdoor channel. 58" 45 @ 28" Medium wrist grip, curly maple and elm with osage accents and limbs. Also it would have sheep horn overlays.

I would call Kent Roberts and order a 3 piece TimberGhost. These bows are the best kept secret in traditional bows, one of the very best bows I have owned at an incredible value.

I would seriously look at the ILF stuff out there. Mix and match risers and limbs...all sorts of combinations.

I would be quite content being stranded on a deserted island, with a Journeyman recurve bow drawing around 65# @ 28.Even would have a little left over to buy a few FMJ.I would not go hungry.  :archer2:
