Got a zipper, just have a question!
« on: July 27, 2013, 12:06:00 AM »
Hey gang, I just got a zipper nitro that is 62" and 52@28". Built last year and the riser is made of cocobolo and wenge and the limbs are made of carbon with foam cores. All I can say is WOW!!! This bow is a shooter now, but I was wandering about the limbs. Could some of you experienced shooters give me their opinions on the limbs, are they the way to go? I was gonna get her setup for hunting season with Easton FMJ with 75gr inserts and was probably going to shoot the 125 wensel woodsman elites!!! Thanks

Well, I'm not an experienced shooter, but I have a 58" SXT, 48#@28" with the carbon/foam limbs. Definitely a shooter and very smooth. Bill Dunn told me when I was ordering that the carbon/foam design he has will give basically about 2-3 more #'s of energy with the lesser draw weight. I have no way to prove/disprove that, so I'm going with what he said. He promotes them as the way to go, good enough for me. No doubt lots of opinions around that though.
You've got a pretty good looking "stable" of bows there, Juan.

What are your concerns with the limbs, they should be fine and if it's shooting well for you, your all set to go in my opinion. If you have any questions I know Bill will be happy to help you out. He and Tracy are great people!

I see, I would think it all about the performance, carbon and foam seem to be the newest craze to get the most from a particular set up. Good luck with your new bow!!

Last year at ETAR, I talked to Bill and Tracy about the advantage of the carbon/foam limbs in the new Zipstick LB. Their answer was "here, see for yourself". They handed me and my buddy two Zipsticks, each within 2 lbs. of the other, one carbon the other not. We took them out to the demo range and passed them back and forth shooting the same arrows. I had no prior experience with carbon limbs, and to say I was impressed would be an understatement. We went back in and my buddy pulled out his Visa and bought it on the spot.
We are all here because we are not all there.

Bill Dunn builds a top shelf bow, and they are some of the best shooting and fastest bows that I have owned. The Carbon/foam is his top of the line limb, and it is a great limb. I personally like a bamboo core, but that is just a feel and sound thing. the foam is a little faster, but it sounds a little different at the shot. I have had Zipper limbs both ways, and either way makes a great bow. Give Bill a call or shoot him an e-mail, he will be happy to talk with you about bows and limbs. Bill is one of the good guys!

The Zipper Nitro is one of the best bows I have ever shot. I'm really enjoying shooting the carbon/foam limbs as well. I have always been a big fan of bamboo cores. I'm really liking how the carbon/foam slings an arrow though.

I was at the ETAR shoot this week and shot with a guy and his wife that both shot Zippers.  Very nice bows.  Won a Zipper Sweatshirt at the raffle so I had to give it  to the young lady.  You should have a nice setup for this upcoming hunting season

Gen273 nailed it.  The carbon/foam is faster, and feels/sounds different.  I didnt care for it myself.  The performance is incredible.  Great bows!

Owning more than 100 recurves and sold as many,I can say the Zipper with carbon/foam limbs are hands down the quitest I have shot!
Personally I have 2 SXT and they are very fast and and quiet, one of my favourite bows.
