Hat Suggestions????
« on: July 28, 2013, 04:51:00 PM »
Anyone have a hat they like to wear when shooting/hunting?

My trucker hat seems to be getting in the way.

I need a new hat and would like your expert opinions....

I like the short brim baseball hat but last year my hunting buddy Bamboo fixed up a boonie hat for me and I'm really liking it.

Hard to beat the boonie for protection, breaking up outline and shooting comfort.

I use a USMC issue boonie hat. My wife cut the brim back to 2in and sewed the trim piece back on. I also have a bucket hat from Dulthtrading Co. It has uv protection and is very lite. I am not sure if they offer this hat now.
I need protection for my ears as well as my bald head so the common ball cap does not fill the bill for me.

I like a crushable felt fedora with a short brim, similar to what Fred Bear wore, maybe a little shorter brim.  You can lean against a tree and the back will just fold up out of the way, and the front doesn't touch the string when I draw.

Yes....but not nearly that square when you wear them (unless you pressed them I guess) and they DO have the logo just like the regular baseball cap in the pic below it. Brim is wire so you can move it and adjust it.

I like the way the tradgang hat fits, It has a Velcro adjustment on the back and also has their logo on the front.

Is it just me but does the coloring of the brim hats have a worn/weathered look to them?

I have a multicam boonie that I like.
I can fold up the sides or I can wear them down, and the brim does not get in the way of the string that I can think off.
If it does I have not noticed it....
