Hunting monoculars..?

I've been considering getting a decent monocular for hunting. I see that the 10x25 and 10x36 Vortex Solo at the C's website gets good reviews.
Any comments or suggestions on these, or another brand, would be appreciated.

me and my wife both carry the 10x25, it's all I'll carry elk hunting and pretty much everything else, we aren't trophy mongers so all I have to know is, yes it's an elk or no it's not. I'd love to look through the 10x36, but couldn't see it being enough difference to warrant the extra coin for what I do. They are awesome because you can stick them in your pocket. When I go scouting for elk, I will carry binoculars with a wider field of view. It does take a little more effort to find your quarry in a monocular than in a pair of binoculars, but with practice like everything else, it gets easier.

Have one, like the compact ease of carry.  Do find it harder to acquire targets rapidly, compared to binos.  Just me

My horse rolled down the hill and turned my Bruntons into a monocular.  Used it for several seasons and like it well.

I work at Cabela's and have put all the mono's to my eye-with that said, the new $40 Bushnell is the one that I'll be buying for my trad hunting. The Bushnell mono is night and day better than the Vortex mono. Bright, clear, easiest 1 hand operation.
Granted, Vortex binocs are among the best for the buck, but in the case of a monocular, the new Bushnell is hands down the winner.

Thanks for the info folks. Mojo, your's is the first "review" on the Bushnell. I'll check it out as well. (Even if it has some other guy's initials on it..)

just curious if you wear glasses, that's what turned me off to a small pair of Bushnell binoculars. I'm curious if their monocular was similar for people that wear glasses. The ones I tried had the adjustable eye cup and everything and I couldn't get them to work, I gave them to my dad to keep in his truck.

I can't see any instance where I'd rather have a monocular over binocular.    When small/light is the order of the day a tiny pair of 8x20 is tough to beat.

I've used a monocular before and must say, In MY Opinion ........ I'd rather have a small binocular. The mono just doesn't do it for me.

I've got an 8x25 vortex mono I would sell you if you are interested. The optics are great by the way. I just use my Zeiss bino's all the time.

I have a cheap little taco mono and it worked fine, but as mentioned, hard to acquire. I have a pair of bushell bino's which I love and will be getting the new mono. For those who have not used a mono all I can say is get one the are awesome while bowhunting.
