Cabin Fever Cane Arrow,,,,,with Pics
« on: January 19, 2007, 04:55:00 PM »
Well,,,I live in Oklahoma but you would think it was somewhere up north by all the snow and ice we've been getting and still expecting more.

So I had all this river cane that I've been putting off working on and finally got started. I finished 1 dz. and have 1 dz. more cane to finish. Here is a couple pics of the first batch.

I've got two stone points that I'm planning on putting on a couple shafts.

Also 3 of the shafts are fletched with feathers off of my first turkey that I got last spring. (with a shotgun ;-(  My plan is to harvest my next turkey with one of these shafts when I get Faith the Rover Gal this spring.

Wish me Luck, I'm gonna need it!

Real nice job Todd. I'm working on some now; if they turn out half as nice as yours, I'll be happy.

Very nice, I have a bunch of cane drying here and can't wait to get started. Did you put any glue under your feathers or are they only tied on?

Thanks alot guys,,,,,

Mark, I haven't weighed them, but they spine check from 43# up to 75#. I guess I'll just match them up to wichever bow they shoot good out of, ie.  selfbow or my Horne Traditional LB or my Horne Mountain Recurve. Also some have 5/16 points some 11/32 and a couple 23/64.

Roy, I used the fletch tape under the feathers and then wrapped the sienew. They say that the tape works best with the cane.

Can't wait to get some stone points tied on and launch one at a turkey....
