Boy Mitch, so many go great with a nice piece of coco like that.  I've always thought yew  or osage look great with cocobolo.  A highly figured mrytle is also great.

Or you might just tell Kevin whether you prefer a lighter or darker wood for veneers and let him surprise you!

No matter what, it will be a looker and a shooter!

That is definitely some great cocobolo. Lots of nice grain there. Still one of the best looking woods out there by far. I'd have to agree with Whip. Cocobolo goes great with yew or osage.

Great looking XR! I have one also, and really enjoy it. I just bought an LX with 2 sets of limbs from stickhorse, and it is also a great bow. The XR's, though, are amazingly quiet and they are very fast. And the "let off" at the end of the draw is sweet.

Kevin is a great bowyer. He took a bow on trade that didn't fit me well that I had bought used. I had put a dent in it from a quiver and while it was there to be repaired he offered to make me a new one. He took the one I sent and made me a deal I couldn't resist. He really wanted me to have one that fitted me well and I was happy with. He made me a new Vital (I had never shot one)but owned 3 Arroyos and I took his word and I have been amazed ever since I got the new one.It is my special bow is all I can say.

I'm still thrilled with my LXR. Every time I take it to the range guys pick it up and tell me they really like the wood combo. I finally took my "D" type longbow out to shoot last week as it was complaining about being ignored. It was fun, but I couldn't wait to get back to my LXR.

Thanks John. I'm a wood freak. I have a really outrageous piece of English walnut on my shotgun, and a bow that was up for sale a while back with koa riser on my computer as wallpaper. If the wood has pretty grain, I like it    :)

Steve's bow at the beginning of this thread has the most spectacular cocobolo I've ever seen.
