Black Widow Tab review and thoughts
« on: August 14, 2013, 12:35:00 PM »
Just got a black widow super leather tab in the mail today. Wow this thing has some thick leather! I have been shooting with it all day and I really like the inside finger fenders as I have been prone to getting blisters on my index finger. It has a nice smooth release and I cannot hear any of the string slapping the tab as I have on some other tabs that I have used. However, I'm not sure if I like the velcro finger strap. I have a cordovan tab and I think i prefer the feel of the elastic over the velcro. What do you guys think about these black widow tabs?

My favorite for sure.  I shoot their three under tab.  I have used about all tabs available over the past decade and I always go back to the BW.    I'm about to convert my hunting buddy.... He's stubborn so thats saying something.   :)

I have been using them for many years. I cut off the inner leather piece as I like the feel of it better with only 2 layers. That is how they made them back in the 70's.

When I shot 3 under I used one and loved it.  The thicker based really allowed for consistent string placement and prevented me from cupping my hand.  Super comfortable and no break in required.  I also noticed that even without trimming it wouldn't rub my face on release.  Black widow tabs (and gloves) are a steal for the quality you get.

I have used Black Widow tabs for years. My son does also. I like the "fenders". I use my tab when I shoot my recurves. Also when I shoot my lower poundage longbows. I have one in each quiver and my knapp sack. Old guys tend to forget where they put things sometimes

Widow tabs are all I use. They velcro strap is no problem. Adjust when you first put it on and never loosen it again except to readjust it 1 time after it is broke in. Been shootin the same tab for over 7 years now

They are my second favorite.  My favorite tab is a no-name $3 tab from the local bow shop.  The Widow tab and a glove I got for free are what I keep in my truck armrest for backups in case someone at the range wants to shoot with me and/or I loose or forget my tab.

I like them best of all the tabs I have tried.  Funny, I have been shooting with a (name brand) glove, and liking it, then just this evening grabbed my tab and immediately shot better. .  dang it.  I really want to be gooder with a glove, but I just can't outshoot that tab.

I used them until I switched to a glove. they are well-built and the price is not too steep. I shot both the calf hair ones and the leather, and liked them both.

I have two of them, one in which I've had for over 16 years. I use it for a backup and also for bowfishing.

BW is all I shoot but I trim them - both the  height of the fenders and the length of the tabs themselves.  Nice thing about the velcro is that you can custom fit how tight you want it.  When you have it right just trim off the excess.
