it was my grand pa's
« on: August 14, 2013, 10:01:00 PM »
couple of weeks ago i took a ride to mi to visit some kin i hadn't seen in several years and while i was there my uncle gave me 2 bows one was a bear 76er with the target riser and the other was a bear grizzly 56" 55lb.he thought it was his but wheni told him the poudage he said no that would be your gradpa's,his and my dad's dad.
now i already have 2 of his bows from years ago after he passed one is an unkown long bow the other a bear grizzly static recurve i am pretty sure.but i won't shoot them.
this one however i will.i told my uncle he had just givin me a quest he asked what do you mean i said i will have to kill a deer with this bow.
after returning home i cleaned the bow up somewhat and as i couldn't wait to shoot it i twisted a string strung the bow and shot it prolly 45 to 75 times friday evening then took it to a small shoot and did well.i am now planning on hunting with it this fall as opposed to next i even got a few bear heads that i will tip the arrows with 64 model i think.sorry for the long post wanted to share with ya'll.

A nice '68 Grizzly.
Way to carry on the Family Tradition.

Great Bow.,   I also have a 1968 Grizzly and love shooting it.  I would shoot this bow as fast as any of my custom ones.

Its the bow that I started hunting with.  Good luck with your hunts with it this fall!
Relax,

You'll live longer!

There is so much tradition and family history in hunting. I feel the same way about things handed down. Rem. 1100, Tru Temper fly rod. Best wishes on the quest.
...because bow hunting always involves the same essentials. One hunter. One arrow. One animal. -Don Thomas
