Less than four weeks left to go in the upstate.  It's driving me crazy waiting. I'm insanely jealous of ya'll in the low state. I wish you the best of luck though. Hope to see some pics on here soon.

I head back to the Aiken farm next Thursday for 5 days...have work to do & probably won't be hunting.  Besides I have to go fish for Atlantic Salmon in New Brunswick before starting bow season...just a quirky tradition of mine. Having ice form on my fly rod guides gets me in the mood to chase deer...tippit

I've been twice so far.  The deer are moving a funky times for me now... First I blew 4 doe out going to my blind and the other time deer were blowing at while I was heading out.

Going to sit tomorrow afternoon and see how it goes.  Feels good to be back in the woods though.

I went for a walk yesterday in a new area to me. It was awful warm out and the breeze kept switching directions. I did see some good hog rooting that looked to be a couple days old. Water is still very high on the Waccamaw. I might get to try again next week.

Hot and humid yesterday.  This was my 3rd set and the 3rd time I didn't get any deer movement until too dark to see(blowing and stomping on my walk out) Now I remember why I don't start hunting until mid to late September!

Good thing the stripers are still biting.

I made it out today on the local WMA. No shots taken but I had a great hunt.

20 minutes after I got out of the Yak I had 2 doe cross the river and swim to shore 50 yrds from me.

Unfortunately they turned and went away from me into the wind.

I had another coming toward me a little later but a shifty wind made her turn around at 40 yrds.

Next time I am using the climber and waiting.

Based on the sign I saw today there is a lot of deer in the area and crossing the river is not an issue for these deer.
