Tricks for arrow wraps! air bubbles?

Old school guy here. . . been dipping paint for 25 years.  Tried some wraps today.  I find I have very tiny air bubbles under the wrap.  I used a pin to get rid of them- marginally worked. Paint was sure smoother.  Any help/tips????

Are you using a mouse pad to roll them on and going slow?

I've been using them a while and never had any air bubbles. Could also be the brand - might need to try some different ones.

Lay them On a phone book or an old mouse pad when you apply them. A hard surface is no good! Shsena

Yep!  Gotta use a mousepad or something soft...I got a budy that has a stack of old nespapers, that he stapled together at the edges...says that works the best.  I've always used a pad though

Off topic...but,I have been using Krylon spray paint for plastic lawn furniture for my cresting/dip arrow end. Let it dry overnight,its tough,cheap,and works great. The plastic lawn furniture variety is flexible. That's why I use it.  Just thought I'd throw it out there.  rat'

While you are reading- have any of your guys crested on the vinyl with Testers?  Types of glues an issue?

I use my ironing board, which works great.

Using a mouse pad you seldom get bubbles but when you do just poke the bubble with a needle, and smooth it down.

Phone book like Shawn said will work too. Ironing board should work like BowZen said.

Never tried to crest them but they might be too slick a surface for good adhesion - hopefully someone around here has tried.

I have had luck with any of the cyanoacrylate fast set adhesives and any of the fletch tites (I like the platinum) work for me. Tried Duco on some that I had that had designs and it caused the design to run - so it might not be the best one.

Ive never had a bubble.
I use a mouse pad and it works great. Apply pressure as you roll.
Works everytime.
go get a cheap mouse pad and save yourself a headache.

Magazines work great also. Seems like i always have traditional bowhunter close when im making arrows.

A heat gun on low or hair dryer will soften the glue so you can get rip of bubbles. Be careful, not to much heat.

For cresting I use other colors of wraps. I don't buy arrow warps.

I go to the local sign makers and buy up pieces of 2ml cast vinyl. Or even that big auction site. Then I cut them on my wifes Cir cut board.

Option #2, and this is going to sound funny. I have used monokote which is really light weight ( if you are putting it on carbon be careful with the iron. It is great for cresting but trying to get glue to stick to it is not easy

This might seem dumb, but just for fun I crested a bunch of arrows with red wraps with a black Sharpie...turned out great!

I crest all of my wraps with testors model paints and clear with clear Deft spray paint, only clear 24 hrs later and not under feathers.

Mouse pad is best way to go. make sure its a "squishy" mouse pad not a hard one.  If you already have bubble from not useing a mouse pad poke bubble with a needle and use finger nail to get air out.  cool side note sharpie markers make grat lines for cresting and then coat with a light spray or arcylic clear. i creat by hand by laying arrow on a little spin tester (metal plate iwth 2 rollers on each end so you can spint he arrow to make sure broadhead is aligned) and jsut hold the sharpie marker to the shaft as i roll my other hand to spin the shaft on the spin tester. cheap and works great.

Don't clear with minwax polyurethane and use Fletch tite platinum. My feathers were falling off. In 25 years it was the 1st time I had feathers fall off.
