Old back quivers hold far more than arrows, they also contain a wealth of memories.
I made this old quiver more than 30 yrs. ago, and I admit, that is an amateur job at best, but she still serves me well after all these yrs. through all kinds of conditions, it has hunted deer, tree rats, rabbits, hogs, coyotes, shoots and a number of other things, without fail.
This evening while giving her, the annual care and feeding regiment of Saddle soap , I began to reminisce about the many adventures, hunts and great friends associated with it.
Now it may sound strange, but its almost as if the very bottom of an old back quiver, that you never see, is where great memories accumulate, and much like a Genies lamp, when rubbed, great memories magically flood ones mind, simply by the caring motion of applying the leather treatment and working new life into the memory stained leather.
Heres a pic. of my old quiver in which you can see the cargo that it carries,.... buttttt wayyyyyy down in the bottom, where you cant see,.......that is where great memories accumulate, and only the owner has the privilege and joy of accessing these wonderful memories through the ritualistic care and feeding of an old friend.
A Genies lamp! BAAAA HUMBUG! true magic is found in the memories that have been made with friends and on hunts, that have collected in the bottom of an old back quiver!    :campfire:    [/IMG]

AH now I remember !!! Great looking quiver if you ask me. Wears it's age well, I gave two of mine a rubdown while watching my son practice ball about an hour ago myself.

While giving it a rub down, I noticed some places where its wearing thin, and needs a few patches.
I figure an hours worth of work is fair trade for another 30 yrs. of service.

Moleman, I like your thoughts! Memories and friends are the best.
