we got pics of her 2 years ago none last year but again this year.i sent the pics to our loacl bioligists and had 2 reply saying that there would be nothing wrong with the meat as other than the growth she is a healthy deer.they said nothing as to wether this was a genetic thing that could be passed on.

It's a virus. We use to see it around here more frequently. They're goof to go, I'd shoot and eat. She's pretty big.

I'd go for the broadside on the bunny!!!

Does look like a healthy deer, but reminds me too much of my father...he had a massive cancerous growth in his cheek.  They removed it and he's cancer free today, but it still looks too much like that for me....

I'd go with the biologist though.

"Lumpy Jaw" is caused by an arterial worm. The worm causes partial paralysis of jaw muscles. Food gets stuck in the deers mouth between the jaw and gum and it causes an abcess like huge lump. Most lumpy jaw looks like this:

I have shot and eaten a deer like this with no ill effects. Your deer looks like it has something different though, as the lump is all black and nasty looking.

If it is what Bisch said, I dont think eating it would be a great idea. A jaw/tooth/mouth abcess would spread infection throughout the bloodstream and in turn the tissues.  I'm not sure that without encapsulation of an infection/abcess the deer could live. I may shoot but probably would not eat it.

one biologist said he thought it was a “cutaneous fibroma”.  and the other said he thought it to be an enlarged wart.both said no problem as far as eating the meat.jsut wondered how many of ya'll wouldn't have a problem with it.i know the first time i evver seen a wolf come out of a squirrel in early season it put me off of that paticular tree rat.

She looks to be healthy, and I'm not a biologist so, I would probably pass. If it looked like she was suffering, then I'd do the humane thing but, would not eat.
