Colorado Pronghorn w/pics
« on: August 20, 2013, 08:24:00 PM »
Well it was my first time hunting pronghorn from a blind.  It reminded me a little of tree stand hunting.  I was amazed at how much movement I could get away with.  I was also amazed that scent didn't  seem to matter much, I had several lopes totally circle me before coming in to the water hole.  Some lopes were freaked out by the blind and some could care less (it was up for two weeks prior to the hunt).  It was neat being up close and personal to the game.   I left the screen out of my blind and had does at 5 yds looking right in at me but not seeing me.  Anyway, with temps in the 90s it was like sitting in a sweat lodge for 12 hours a day.  On the 5th day it finally paid off.  Here are a few pics.

Awesome!!!

Pronghorn is on my to-do list for sure (ever since a buddy of mine cooked up some for me  :)

You must have been ROASTING in that blind!  Been crazy hot here for the last few, eh?

Heck of an animal, my friend, way to GO!

Shot was about 22 yds.  I am cooking up some blackstrap right now.  I went with a couple of other tradgangers, Jimscol who killed a whopper on Saturday and Colotrad who is headed back for a few days  in the morning.

Congrats Mark!
Well earned backstrap, 5 days in a hot blind is tough.
