Hoyt Tracker recurve arrow ?
« on: August 25, 2013, 06:13:00 PM »
I just acquired à Hoyt Tracker recurve 62#@28" 58" overall length. Need some advice on arrow spine I like the Gold top trads. I will be shooting a 29-30" arrow with a 150gr. broadheads. Any help would be appreciated.

I would imagine the spine might be pretty close with GT 5575 trads.  However, the weight of the arrow as you describe it will be only about 480 grains, or 7.7 gpp, which is too light for anything other than a target bow, which I would assume is not the intended purpose for a 62# bow.  I assume you're drawing 28"?  So what I would recommend is getting both nock and tip adapters for your arrows, and figuring the extra length of the nock adapter into your overall length. Also get some (quite a few as they are cheap) 20 grain GT weights, and some 50 grain weights, that screw into the adapters, which you can distribute front and rear as needed to add overall weight and fine tune the spine of the arrow.  Make sure to get the nocks that fit the adapters and not the full length nocks that fit directly into the shaft.

Add a 50 grain brass insert and you will have 200 grains up front and that should be darn close with a 55/75 spined GT with a 29.5" bop arrow. Shawn
